EXTREME VACATION OF THE WEEK

Alaska is so big. To see much of it all you need to keep moving. A cruise is a good way to see the coast, but what if you want to immerse yourself in the scenery and not just look at it? How about a six day multi-sport active Alaska vacation? Using planes, buses, bikes, rafts, kayaks and your own two feet you’ll get a feel for Alaska no mere observer ever could. From Denali National Park to the Kenai Peninsula, you will see some of the most breathtaking scenery and wildlife North America has to offer. So you get home tired, rest at work.

DIFFERENT, BUT NOT SO EXTREME VACATION OF THE WEEK

The recent 100th anniversary of flight drew attention to the barren, windswept section of the North Carolina coast that the Wright Brothers chose for their experiments. Although they’re still windswept at times, the Outer Banks are no longer barren. In fact, they’re a favorite vacation destination of the mid Atlantic states. You’ll probably want to rent a house, of which there are thousands. The northern beaches have newer, more sparse development. Fall/winter/spring seasons are great for those who enjoy fewer crowds and much lower prices.

Pop-up blocker

Not exactly travel news, but essential for surfing travel sites, which are plagued by annoying pop-up ads. We were reminded of the difference recently when using a computer not protected. Viewing websites is so much more enjoyable without those spawning windows. There are a number of blockers out there, but we recommend Alexa, by Amazon.com. It’s a quick and easy install that doesn’t harm your computer. Follow this link and click on “Free Toolbar” on the upper right of the page:
