True to its roots in tourism, Miami offers activities for the whole family. There are numerous roadside and novelty museums that make Miami their home. Only the must see or do attractions find their way here.
Little Havana- Primarily a Cuban Community. Streets are filled with small restaurants, discount stores and businesses supporting the daily urban neighborhood life. Not recommended for sightseeing or shopping, Excellent destination for good food and nightlife.

Art Deco Historic District- A must see with, more than 800 buildings in the area basically a 15 block, 1 square mile area. Guided tours are offered by the Miami Design Preservation League. A 90 Minute tour ($6) departs from the Art Deco Welcome Center, 1001 Ocean Dr. on Sat.@10:30 AM, and Thur.@6:30 PM. 305-672-2014.
Little Haiti Primarily a community of Haitian immigrants that have settled into the area once known as Lemon City. Descriptive words like vibrant, interesting, and exotic are sometimes used to mask the hazards of this area.
Coral Castle- A 1,100 ton coral monument built by one man, Ed Leedskalnin. Featured in many magazines and TV shows because no one can figure how he erected the huge blocks of coral. This roadside attraction may be best seen on TV, rather than real life. Open 9-6, admission charged. 28655 S. Dixie Hwy. Homestead, Florida.
Fairchild Tropical Garden- An 83-acre garden hosting extensive collections of rare tropical plants including cycads, flowering trees and vines. A 16,000 sq.ft. conservatory hosts a sunken garden, winding paths, lakes, and rain forest display. Walking tours and narrated tram. Open 9:30-4. $8 children under 13 free, 10901 Old Cutler Rd. Weeks Air Museum- Founded by aviation legend Kermit Weeks, this museum has a very good collection of warbirds including an, A-26, Grumman J2F-6 Duck, AT-11, P-40, TBM, Wildcat, Hellcat, and an interest cutaway of a B-29 cockpit. 14710 S.W. 128th St., Tamiami Airport, Miami. 305-233-5197.
Parrot Jungle and Gardens- A wildlife habitat, bird sanctuary and botanical garden. Flamingos, alligators, tortoises, and other reptiles. Adults $14.95, children $9.95. 11000 SW 57th Ave., Miami. 305-666-7834.

Barnacle State Historic Site- Built in 1891 by Grove founder Ralph Munroe, cracker revival style house and grounds on tour Fri-Sun at 10, 11;30, 1, and 2:30. $1 Admission charged for adults. 3485 Main Hwy. Coconut Grove, FL., 305-448-9445.
Coral Gables Merrick House- Boyhood home George Merrick, founding father of Coral Gables. Taken over by the city in the Mid 70's and restored the house to its 20's appearance. Coral Gables, Fl. 305-460-5361.
Gold Coast Railroad Museum- Collection of railroad cars and memorabilia, houses the presidential Pullman car used by Presidents Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower, Reagan and Bush. Miami Museum of Science and Space Transit Planetarium- 140 hands on exhibits for kids covering principles of physics, electricity, light, sound and health.
