Savannah Things to Do
Savannah's proximity to the river and the Atlantic Ocean means many of the things to do are water related. Tybee Island, a 20 minute drive from the Historic District, is a popular destination for beach activities.
Ace Basin Tours- Tours are about three hours long, traveling through the marshes and sea islands of the ACE Basin. Tours leave from the ACE Basin Tours dock on Coosaw Island. Captain Stan, tour guide and captain, is a former coast guard captain and shrimper with life-long experience of the ACE Basin. He has extensive knowledge of the history and wildlife of the area.
Low Country River Excursions- A 90 minute cruise down Bull River. Scenery, wildlife and bottle nose dolphins. Reservations recommended. Several tours daily. Adults $14, child $10. Located at 8005 Old Tybee Rd. (hwy 80 East) 912-898-9222.
Sea Kayak Georgia- Sea kayaking instruction and guided tours. Scheduled outings every weekend from $45 per person, custom day trips, wilderness camping or bed and breakfast. Kayaking school and workshops. Tybee Island, 912-786-8732.
Sailing Cruises- aboard a Serenade, 34' Erwin Yacht. Private tours 6 passenger maximum. $75 per hour, 4 hour minimum, $350 per day. Savannah, 912- 897-7300.
Walking Tours- Choose from: Ghost walks, Civil War Tour, botanical, architecture, or literary walking tour. Tours are approximately 1 mile of easy walking lasting 90 minutes. $15 for adults, $10 for children. 912-233-3896.
Carriage Tours- Horse drawn carriage tours, morning and evening departures. $17 adults, $8 child. Private tours start at $65. 912-236-6756.
Old Savannah Tours- Tour at your own pace, 90 minutes or all day. Unlimited on off boarding, 13 stops on 20-25 minute pickup. Special evening tours also available. Adults $15, child $6. 912-234-0493.
Salt Creek charters- Sightseeing, dolphin watch, and fishing trips. USCG Licensed. 912-897-6307.
Amicks Deep Sea Fishing- A 41' charter boat built in 1993. Individual, groups and private charters. Fishing the Georgia coast since 1979 with 2600 hours of fishing charters. $75 per person includes rod, reel, bait and tackle, departs 7am returns approx. 6pm. 912-897-6759
