Having grown too popular and the fare having become too exquisite, Millie's can no longer be considered a diner. everything is prepared from scratch right behind the counter, and the menu varies from Southern-style cooking to Pacific Rim and Thai dishes.
Azzurro-6221 River Rd. 804-282-1509. Modern decor combined with excellent old world Italian cuisine makes this spot worth visiting. Extensive wine list, closed for Sunday lunch.

The Smokey Pig- US #1 south of Rt. 54 intersection. 804-798-4590. Closed on Mondays, this establishment is worth seeking out the rest of the week for its of ribs, BBQ, pork, or seafood. Pastries are homemade.

The Track- 2915 W Cary St. 804-359-4781. Shad roe and soft-shell crabs are served seasonally. This recently established restaurant is now going strong and not likely to fade out of popularity soon.
