EXTREME VACATION OF THE WEEK

Can we agree that the Winter Olympics is more fun to watch than its warm weather counter-part? Wouldn’t it be even more fun to participate? And no, we’re not talking about ice skating or any other sport persecuted by French judges. We’re talking 80 MPH adrenaline rushes like luge, skeleton, and ski jumping. Where do you go to pick up the arcane skills required to fly through the air and over the ice on fiberglass? Salt Lake City of course. They have to do something with those expensive Olympic facilities. Don’t worry about finding a baby sitter, they have youth programs as well.

DIFFERENT, BUT NOT SO EXTREME VACATION OF THE WEEK

If you can’t make it to Utah before next month’s thaw, don’t fret, June will bring on another ski season in the Alps. Not those Alps, the ones in New Zealand, with a season opposite our own. That’s right, if you didn’t get enough cold and snow this winter, you can always take part in someone else’s.

Matt Lauer an eGO Maniac?

We don’t know if Matt got his inspiration to visit Richard Branson’s Island from us, but the idea was one of our past Extreme Vacations, (http://www.ego.com/awards/) so the possibility does exist. We’ll keep an eye out to see if Matt is a closet eGO Maniac. As we hinted before, few of us can join Matt or Richard on the island, but as MSNBC points out, there are cheaper Caribbean options for the rest of us.

Cannes is the biggest and most famous film festival in the world. Most of the screenings are by invitation only, and if you’re reading this, you’re probably not on the list.
