Warner Theatre-"The Sound of Music" and "Hello Dolly" had their Washington openings here. The theater is decorated with gold leaf ceilings, an elegant lobby, crystal chandeliers, and red velvet draperies. The Melrose Room at the Park Hyatt Washington at 24th & M Streets, NW offers Swing/Ballroom dancing every Friday and Saturday nights from 7 - 11pm throughout the year for the past six years. The well-known society swing band, The James Jelasic Dance Band, has been the house band since it's inception with Mr. Jelasic leading the group on the grand piano complimented by saxophone/clarinet, string bass and drums. It's been written up by the Washingtonian, the Washington Post and listed in Phyllis Richman's 1998 Top 50 Restaurants.
