      Atlanta Things to Do

      Atlanta is a town with a lot of good reasons to be outdoors. If you have seen all of the sights and are hungry to get your heart beating, here are some choice ways to get your juices flowing. Some of these things require advance registration so it's a good idea to call ahead for this information and for operating hours.

      Stone Mountain Golf Course- A nice, 36 hole course (18 of them designed by Robert Trent Jones) on Stone Mountain. This all inclusive course provides, lessons, a restaurant, a pro shop and a lake. On Stone Mountain 404-498-5717

      Southeastern Expeditions- Whitewater rafting on the Chattooga and Ocoee Rivers. Difficulty levels range from beginner to expert. 1-800-868-RAFT

      Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area- Plenty of white-water rafting, jogging, canoeing and fishing. 1978 Island Ford Parkway 770-339-8070

      Piedmont Park- An excellent place to picnic, jog, and bicycle right in the city. This park was actually a Civil War camp. You can see the Atlanta Botanical Gardens while you are here. 14th St. and Piedmont Ave. 404-876-2041

      Lake Lanier Islands- This is the place to unwind, fish, and just be. If you decide to spend a day or two there are plenty of amenities including: hotel, restaurant, beach, bicycle and boat, rental, skiing, horse riding, golf and sailing. SR 365 NW 770-932-7200.
