Turtle Island Ventures

Kayak the enticing waters of southeastern North Carolina in a comfortable, stable, and easy to use touring kayak. Experience the beauty and exhilaration of the natural world as you glide quietly through winding marsh creeks, crystalline bays, or serene blackwater rivers. Become aquainted with soaring osprey plunging feet first to snatch their prey and fiddler crabs burrowing in the mud flats, and unspoiled, white, sandy beaches.

Kayaking is perfect for families, couples, friends, and single persons of all ages and backgrounds. Persons with physical disabilities or special needs can be easily accommodated and are encouraged to paddle. No experience in paddling is required, as each tour includes professional instruction and is guided by experienced kayakers and outdoor guides.

Tours take place from Topsail Island to Oak Island and everywhere in between, depending on the participants' location and their desired destination. Departure times are flexible and depend on the tides and the participants' schedule. In addition, Turtle Island Ventures offers weekend paddling trips to various unspoiled islands, including Hammocks Beach State Park, with meals and gear provided at very reasonable rates. River trips on the Northeast Cape Fear and Black River are also offered for the same reasonable rates as the salt marsh and island excursions.

Kayaking tours are offered year round, with opportunities for swimming and snorkeling in the warmer months and beachcombing, birdwatching, fishing, and photography on tours throughout every season. Evening tours and moonlight tours are especially nice for paddling amidst peaceful, bioluminescent waters while listening for nocturnal life and viewing the night sky with lessons on astronomy and mythology.
