Pinehurst Things to Do

Although golf is by far the preeminent activity drawing people to the Sandhills area, there have always been other diversions available for non-golfers and duffers on a break. The resorts offer the expected tennis, riding and spas; and in the community you will find parks and lakes for hiking, boating and other pursuits.

Golf- There are more than 30 area courses. In the future we will be provided detailed information on each.

Pinehurst Harness Track- The track has been a part of Pinehurst since 1915. The facility has long been used as a winter training ground for Standardbreds. Races in the spring are a popular social event. 910-215-0984.

Aberdeen Walking Tour- Self-guided tours of Aberdeen's Historic District pick up maps at Visitors Information Center. Free.

Carriage Rides- tour the village starts and stops at Pinehurst hotel available Wed-Sun. By appointment $15 person for half hour tour. 910-295-8456

Lumber River State Park-, fishing, camping, 115 miles of navigatable river for canoeing. 910-628-9844. Canoe rentals available through John Memory in the Wagram area 910-369-2997, Al Pittman in the Lumberton area 910-738-4936, and Robeson County Rec. Dept. 910-671-3095.

Walking Trails

Parks

Aberdeen Lake, picnic area, walking trail, play ground, lake, tennis and volley ball courts. Open daylight hours year round. US 1, Aberdeen 910-944-592.
