Penn's View Inn- 14 N Front St. (922-7600). Modern, clean and comfortable rooms between the river, Olde City and Independence Hall. US$80-$100. $$

Omni Hotel at Independence Park- 4th and Chestnust Sts. The most luxurious hotel in the historic district, offers swift access to most of the historical attractions, as it is located in the center of Independence National Historic Park. Every room includes a view of the park as well as 2 telephones, a TV and VCR, and state of the art climate control. This is the best located hotel in the area. $$$$
Sheraton Society Hill- 1 Dock St. Also considered one of Philadelphia's more luxurious accommodations. Sheraton of Society Hill offers you elegant mahogany beds, brass and glass coffee tables, and a complimentary robe is left out for you. The hotel is set on a 2 1/2 acre plot between Dock and South Front Sts. Recommended highly if you have a little extra money to spend. $$$$
Holiday Inn-Independence Mall- 400 Arch Street. This hotel is absolutely the closest that you will sleep to the Liberty Bell. It offers a rooftop outdoor pool, individual room climate control, and silence as its plot is set a ways back from the main road. $$$
Bellevue Hotel- Broad and Walnut Sts. Your best bet for a taste of history. The light fixtures are all original designs of Thomas Edison's. First opened in 1904, The Bellevue is said to be "the most opulent" of all Philadelphia Hotels. The top floor is the only floor where rooms are still rented. The middle and lower floors offer a variety of restaurants, and shopping. $$$$
Four Seasons Hotel- One Logan Square. Rated one of the two best hotels in Philadelphia, the luxury of this place swallows you as soon as you enter its beautiful floral courtyard. This hotel belongs to the exclusive chain that also includes New York's Pierre, and London's Inn on the park. The rare white mahogany beds accent this designer's great taste for luxury. If you get hungry swing by the luxurious Fountain Restaurant on the ground level. $$$$
Abigail Adams Bed and Breakfast- 1208 Walnut St. A more relaxed and comfortable setting than most hotels in the area. This B&B offers at least $50 dollars off most other hotel rates. Each room has a gas fireplace and private baths. $$
Penn Tower Hotel- Civic Center Blvd. at 34th St. The Penn Tower Hotel is rated the best moderately priced hotel. Accommodations include a lobby cocktail lounge, and a rather informal coffeeshop. The hotel comprises floors 11 through 20 with the lower floors being used as medical offices. A lot of bargain for your dollar. $$$
Doubletree Guest Suites- 4101 Island Ave. Considered the nicest of the airport hotels, Doubletree Guest Suites offer plush bedrooms that include king size beds, a full wet bar, a large television, a speaker phone, and offers minimal airport noise. One of Philadelphia's more reasonably priced luxury hotel. $$$
Philadelphia Airport Marriot Hotel- Arrivals Rd. The newest hotel in the area, this is the only hotel connected to Philadelphia International airport by skywalk. Philadelphia Marriot specializes in the business traveler. There are voice mail and fax machines available, as well as a space for your laptop in over 70 percent of the rooms. Its location also allows easy access to I-95 as well as all the major downtown attractions. $$$$
Philadelphia Airport Hilton- 4409 Island Ave. Another of Philadelphia's airport hotels, Hilton offers the convenience of 2 restaurants, a cocktail lounge, and an indoor pool. Adam's Mark Philadelphia- City Ave. and Monument Rd. Shaped like an airport control tower, this hotel is as well accommodated as the others, but it offers you a different flavor of life. The tower is well suited with restaurants, and function rooms, and is another of Philadelphia's great business hotels. $$$
