Black River Expeditions

Carolina Safari Jeep Tours

Open all year; winterized, all-season, customized safari jeeps. Tour director, Virgil Graham, is a pro magazine photographer, naturalist and area native. 3 hour narrated tour is a combination of nature and history. Travel to salt marsh, cypress swamp and fresh water ecosystems. See: egrets, American Bald Eagle, Ibis, and Alligators in their natural habitat. Tour a 15 century style Spanish castle, rice plantations, islands, slave cabins and more.

Heidenseek Fishing Charters

Narrated cruises of the Intracoastal Waterway. Trip ends with a high speed ride past the beaches and resorts. Located Little River.

Amusement Parks



Family Kingdom

Home to South Carolina's largest roller coaster and Ferris wheel. Go-carts, batting cages, and carnival games. Open Mar.-Oct. Located 3rd Ave. S and Ocean Blvd. 843-626-3447.

Garden City Pavilion and Funland Arcade

Arcade games, carnival games, and carni-atomsphere. Located 103 Atlantic Ave. Garden City. 843-651-2770.

North Myrtle Beach Grand Prix

Grand Prix go-carts, some tracks require drivers license. Miniature golf. 2 locations, north location has kiddie park and rides, south location has speed boats, bumper boats, batting cage. 3201 S. King Hwy 843-238-4783. And US 17 S Windy Hill, 843-272-6010.

Pavilion Amusement Park

More than 35 rides. Water rides, grand prix road racing, boardwalk. Open Mar.-Oct. 1 PM-midnight. Tickets $0.50 each, each ride takes several tickets, all day pass available. Located 812 N Ocean Blvd. 843-448-6456.

Water Parks


Myrtle Waves

The Carolinas' largest water park. Slides, flumes, lazy rivers, wave pool; about any way to have fun with water. Open May to mid-Sept. 3000 10th N. Ext. Myrtle Beach. 843-448-1026.

Wild Water & Wheels

All types of water rides, bumper boats, arcade, race track, miniature golf. May to mid-Sept. 910 US 17 S. Surfside Beach. 843-238-WILD.

Day Trips


Historic Wilmington is only 90 minutes away. It has an extensive downtown historic district with a number of houses open for tour. Home of the USS North Carolina, lots of shopping and wide white beaches.

Myrtle Beach State Park

Oceanfront park, 312 acres, 350 campsites, 5 cabins, picnic areas/shelters, nature trail, pier and surf fishing. Open year round. Located U.S. 17 S. 843-238-5325. Park hours 6-10, office M-F 9-5.

Huntington Beach State Park

Picnic areas with shelters, boardwalk, surf fishing, crabbing, and bird watching, salt marsh, nature trail, fresh water lagoon. 127 camping sites. Located US. 17 S, across from Brookgreen Gardens, Murrells Inlet. 843-237-4440.
